John Yokley Ironman GNCC Side by Side Race Report

Crawfordsville, Indiana, October 26, 2013

Big Country Powersports / Yokley Racing UTV Team driver John Yokley finished 3rd Overall and 3rd in the XC1 Modified Class. There were 67 total entries including 27 XC1 Modified teams. John’s guest passenger was Jeremy Laufer with Night Krawler Customs.

Summary

John Yokley came into the GNCC season finale second in points and a shot of winning a National Championship in his second season in the top XC1 Modified class. He has exceeded expectations so far, and hoped to finish the season with a win.

The Ironman course was a lot of fun to compete on, and allows for good hard racing. It’s a good test for machines with lots of choppy, rutted out trails, and well as high speed field sections where the Polaris RZR XP900 can really stretch its legs. It even has an underground tunnel with a jump at the end!

John got a good start and was 4th in turn 1. He settled into 3rd place half way through lap 1 of this 6 lap, one hour race. He ran a steady race on this 5 mile course, and finished on the podium in 3rd place. This finish insured that he would finish the GNCC season in 2nd place in points.

This has been a very successful racing season for the Big Country Powersports Team. The team is already set for next year and hopes to again compete for a championship.
